Our Own Bodies Part #1

In the media recently I have seen that the creators of Barbie have come out with a new line of dolls that are more true to what women in our society look like today. This new line of dolls has excited me so much. For Mattel to do this is a big leap, but I think it was well taken. Girls these days are so ashamed of how they look whether they are curvy, skinny, athletic, or what people call average. In my opinion this is not okay! All women and men should be proud of their bodies, but or not. This comes from what we see in society today. People are tearing each other down for how they look and that is not okay. I do not that believe anyone should have a say in how someone else looks. If you feel ashamed of your body because someone has told you to be I want you to stop and think. "What does their opinion matter, it is not their body." Feeling confident in my own skin is something that I struggled with in high school. I always wanted to look a Victorias Secret model, and eventually I realized that this was an unrealistic dream, and i am okay with that. I was blessed with body and I rock it! Now I am not saying that there is anything wrong with being smaller I just think people need to stop thinking that is the only way they can look beautiful. The people in this world need to stop judging each other. Whether it be how someone looks, there ethnicity, religion, or even how they walk there dog! Body shaming is such a powerful way to hurt someone. It can make them feel insignificant, and meaningless. If we can not feel confident the way we are then what do we do? The next time you think about judging anyone in the way the look just think "How would I feel if someone said, or did these things to me?" We also need to realize that we are all born into our bodies for a reason, and if we can't appreciate ourselves the way we are then how are we going to be taken seriously.
